Gas Works Park is one of Seattle’s most unusual and recognizable places, built around the preserved remains of the city’s former gasification plant on the north shore of Lake Union. What was once industrial infrastructure is now one of the best places in the city to watch the light change over Lake Union and the downtown skyline.
I’ve photographed here for years in every kind of weather—from still blue mornings and fog to brilliant sunsets and city lights after dark. Between the old machinery, boats on the lake, reflections, and constantly changing skyline, it’s one of those Seattle locations that never really gives you the same photograph twice.
