Snow Lake Photography

Snow Lake is one of Washington’s busiest alpine hikes, but beyond the crowds it remains a remarkably beautiful place to photograph. The trail climbs from the Alpental area into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, eventually opening onto a deep mountain basin surrounded by steep granite walls, forest, and clear blue water. I’ve photographed Snow Lake in very different conditions—from calm reflections and summer light to fresh snow, low clouds, and dramatic breaks in the weather. Early and late in the day, especially when the trail quiets down, the lake can feel completely different from the busy daytime experience. This collection includes views of Snow Lake itself, the surrounding peaks, reflections, changing weather, seasonal snow, and scenes encountered along the approach.
