Seattle’s Japanese Garden, Washington Park Arboretum, and Kubota Garden are places I return to throughout the year for their quiet landscapes, changing color, and beautifully shaped trees and plantings. Autumn is especially rewarding, with Japanese maples, golden foliage, ponds, bridges, and reflections transforming all three gardens. I’m often drawn to the smaller scenes as much as the broad views—moss, stones, reflections, layered foliage, individual trees, and the way light moves through the gardens. Kubota Garden in particular has wonderful combinations of water, mature trees, stone, and carefully framed views that reward slowing down and looking carefully. This collection includes photographs from different seasons and conditions across all three gardens. Fine-art prints are available in a variety of sizes and finishes.
