Crocuses are among the first flowers to appear each spring, often pushing through cold ground while the garden is still mostly dormant. Their arrival feels like the first real sign that winter is beginning to loosen its grip.
I’m especially drawn to the purple varieties, which catch soft spring light beautifully and lend themselves to shallow depth of field and selective focus. Their small scale makes them perfect for intimate compositions, where a few blossoms can become little pools of color against a softly blurred background.
