Palouse Drone Photography Workshop

Colfax, Washington • June 5–7, 2026
Small Group • Maximum 6 Participants
$1,499 per person Drone-Focused Workshop Sunrise & Sunset Sessions

Overview

Join me for a drone-focused exploration of the rolling fields, textural contours, and sweeping tones of the Palouse region of southeast Washington. Early June brings vibrant greens, soft shadow play, and abstract patterns that look incredible from the air.

We’ll meet in Colfax and carpool through the countryside for sunrise and sunset flights. Weather permitting, we may also visit **Steptoe Butte** for a sunrise or sunset session — a spectacular high vantage point overlooking the Palouse from above. Midday hours are free for rest, food, editing, or scouting. DSLR/mirrorless cameras are welcome but not required — this workshop is primarily aerial.

Why This Workshop Is Special

The Palouse is one of the most visually unique landscapes in North America, and drones reveal patterns and textures impossible to see from ground level. We also include a possible sunrise or sunset visit to **Steptoe Butte**, offering sweeping vistas and long shadow play across the valley.

  • Rolling farmland with long sunrise shadows
  • Aerial contours, ridgelines, and abstract textures
  • Sunset color transitions over layered hills
  • Optional visit to Steptoe Butte (weather dependent)
  • Drone composition, exposure, and flight instruction
  • Cinematic pans and movement techniques
